Project description:
In 2019, Tunisia passed a new food safety law that provides for the establishment of effective official structures for risk assessment, risk management and risk communication and aligns the Tunisian legal framework with international standards. This reorganisation poses a major challenge for Tunisia: new institutions have to be established and existing administrative units have to be reformed. At the end of the project, the Tunisian authorities in the areas of food safety and consumer health protection are established and sustainably strengthened so that:
- Risk assessment, management and communication is carried out by the competent Tunisian authorities in line with international standards.
- A Tunisian training and education programme in risk assessment, management and communication is operational.
- Staff of the competent institutions are trained in risk assessment, management and communication.
Together with the Tunisian partners, we develop solutions to the challenge and work together to implement the goals. Specifically, the following instruments are used:
- Policy and authority advice
- Organisational development
- Training for experts and managers
- Train-the-trainer programme
