BfR Commission for Pharmacologically Active Substances and Veterinary Medicinal Products
The BfR Commission for Pharmacologically Active Substances and Veterinary Medicinal Products supports BfR in the assessment of pharmacologically active substances and veterinary medicinal products. The scientific expertise of the Commission members bundles the expert knowledge available in Germany.
Tasks of the BfR Commission
The tasks of the Commission include supporting BfR in carrying out expert evaluations of scientific work as well as preparing and publishing scientific opinions intended for the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and international bodies (e.g. CODEX, EFSA).
In crises the Commission advises BfR on critical issues like, for example, the exceeding of maximum levels of approved veterinary medicinal products and unauthorised pharmacologically active substances in imported fish and meat products.
The Commission also supports BfR in scientifically assessing the findings of the National Residue Control Plan.
Members of the BfR Commission
The BfR Commission for Pharmacologically Active Substances and Veterinary Medicinal Products was not reappointed for the time being in the appointment period 2022-2025 due to BfR's reduced need for advice on this topic.
If necessary, the BfR will invite one or more experts to expert discussions on specific issues in order to access external expertise.
